I am trying to display separate special products on different pages. I believe I have set all the parameters correctly. I have created separate module instances and pointed them to the categories I wish to display. Still, when I test the flash, it displays all items in all categories, not just the ones in the category ID I specified. I know it's something I'm doing wrong, but, I can't figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated. |

It sounds as if you have not set the Category ID parameter for the module. If you leave this blank it will display products from all categories.
The category id needs to be a single number or a comma separated list of numbers. This numbers must correspond to the id number of the category, which is the number displayed in the far right column when you list your virtuemart categories.
Your problem might also be caused by setting the 'Use Request Category' parameter to 'Yes'. If your want to display specific categories this should be 'no'.
If this does not solve your problem, could you send us a screenshot of the module parameters that you have set, otherwise it is a bit difficult to figure out based on your explanation. |

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have indeed set the category parameters in the module as seen here in the screen shot. Again, thank you for your help.
Since the site is still on my local server, I have made a jpg of it and uploaded it here:http://www.stantoncd.com/downloads/screenshotVM.jpg |

Thanks, that makes things a lot clearer.
As I mentioned in my previous answer, your problem is caused by setting the 'Use Request Category' parameter to 'Yes'. If your want to display specific categories this should be 'no'.
If the 'Use Request Category' is set to 'yes', the category id parameter is ignored. The module will display items from the current category if the virtuemart product browse page or product details page is being viewed, otherwise it displays products from all categories. |

Ah. Yes...but, in the meantime, I also discovered another way to get it to display only the products in the desired category. I made the distinction in the component parameters of the menu item.
Once again, thank you for you help and for a very useful Virtuemart extension. |

Great - glad it is working. There is often more than one way of doing something. |
