Spam is becoming a major nuisance to anyone who runs a website. If you advertise any address on a site you can guarantee that you will receive an avalanche of spam.
This script works because the programs that trawl the internet looking for email addresses cannot read javascript. Rather than including your email address in the HTML of the page, the script loads it when the page loads. A human viewer will still see the address, but a robot will not.
